It’s that time once again, Christmas and New Year’s is just around the corner! Is it just me, or did the year go by so quickly?
New Years in Japan is a big traditional holiday, in which the homes are decorated with flowers and greenery, in Japanese style arrangements.
Also, traditionally, during this time, we put together (and make available) Christmas and New Year’s kits and classes, at our DECO Japan and Hawai’i studios. Each kit has been designed to incorporate “our newest finds” of the current trends in the floral industry.
Once a year, my Mother and I attend a floral design trade show, in Japan, and we always get inundated with all the new products! (Of course we tend to order way too much stuff!) 🙂
Metallic, glitter, rhinestones, anything that “sparkles” are VERY HOT items! And there were so many beads, black & white, orange & green, pearls mixed with feathers.
Also, silk flowers and leaves are becoming so close to the “real thing,” it’s hard to discern them from real or artificial. They are getting so detailed, it’s amazing.
By the way, we will be at Macy’s-Ala Moana, on Sunday, November 23rd, from 6-10 p.m. for a special event. We will be offering mini Christmas workshops at Ku’u Home on the 4th floor, and this will coincide with Macy’s sale, for the evening. I’m currently working on new designs for the event, so we’ll have a bunch of new DECO flowers to show you.
So, please come see us, if you’re in the neighborhood! 🙂
If you would like to see what Christmas and New Year’s kits we are offering this year, please visit our website, but of course, you are more than welcome to come and check out the samples in our studio! 🙂
